Sun Industries, Inc. (Santa Ana, CA), an established regional providers of design and build energy efficient lighting services, today announced the creation of Sun Energy Solutions, a joint venture established to meet the unique energy savings needs of national companies in the commercial, industrial and institutional markets.
"Escalating energy costs are a growing concern for large, multi-facility corporations in virtually every market,” according to Lynda Sun, Owner and CEO of Sun Industries, Inc., “yet, the ability to design, engineer and implement a national energy savings plan in the lighting sector has been a significant challenge for these corporations because of the traditional model of local and regional service providers.” Sun, a veteran of the lighting services industry, adds “the effort to coordinate plans across unique facilities, in different energy markets, with local providers who may not offer both design and build services is a significant issue hindering the optimization of potential energy savings."

The new venture will provide turn-key design services and engineering grade audits of multiple facilities to establish the optimum lighting technologies and configurations for maximum energy savings. Optimization proposals will benchmark existing usage and energy costs to calculate the payback period and return on investment associated with a lighting retrofit project. “We often find,” according to Ms. Sun, “that a single facility may not achieve client designated financial hurdle rates while another building delivers outstanding payback projections.” However, many national, multi-facility corporations are beginning to realize that a combined project can maximize savings and reduce energy consumption in total, while still meeting an overall financial threshold.
Additionally, Sun Energy Solutions will build what they design on a national scale, eliminating the headaches of quality control, coordination and subsequent maintenance/repair activities that often plague lighting upgrades done as one-off projects by local contractors. Much of the implementation work will be done by in-house technicians and construction teams, using the best lighting technologies for the situation. According to Ms. Sun, “all projects will be centrally managed; all information will be in a relational database,” providing national clients with “substantial insight and desktop access to a next day view of what’s going on in each facility across the country."
Sun Energy Solutions will leverage the expertise of both partner companies to serve clients in the industrial/manufacturing, commercial office, warehousing/distribution center and retail facility markets. Sun will also continue to partner with Energy Services Companies (ESCO’s) who need a quality lighting solution as part of a larger energy savings initiative, especially in the Hospital, University and Government facility markets.
